It was a good ride on a beautiful day until K 65.8 when I was getting more tired, lost concentration and there...................
5 weeks on .... slowly mending with my new right hip, pain has mostly gone. As long as I don't over do it; enjoy my couch time and read a few more books
Whatever you do, don't do a " similar stunt" !

This gets the old ticker working very early in the rides West of Kal Lake.

It never loses the thrill .... some sections take more concentration than others, but there isn't much relaxing on the way down.
Up, over and down with Telemetry Overlay

It takes "forever" to get the raw video through the loops of optimizing etc. and even longer to export. The end result is far from what I expect. the pixelation is back despite avoiding 1080 p, which YT doesn't like for processing. What now???

The real thrill is on the downhill; less sweat and more speed.

OK, this should work. All the plastic replaced except a short extension that should be sturdy enough. Still wonder why GoPro doesn't produce a set that would include some of the stuff of the knock-offs, but in alu. Not as cheap, but sturdy. Anyway the extended plastic linkages are history! To facilitate loading and unloading the Hero 8 Black the ParaPace Mountain Bike Mount (amazon.ca) swivels ...

That's a speed track, great fun. Where the pixelation stems from (again) is yet to be determined. Grrrr!

Correct telemetry ..... except the temperature. It was a pleasant 15º C when I started. Sooo one more snag to correct.
More of the same....err testing

Hmmm ..... looks like I finally figured out where I went wrong. Yeah it was high time!

It wasn't a Blue Bird day, but nice enough to get some more recorded and massaged.
Not bad at all, even if.....

Time for another test after a few minor adjustments. This on a route with enough ups and downs.

Beautiful - thank you. A suggestion, if I may. It would be nice to eventually edit this video to super-impose some names or other reference points - I only saw the railway sign for Valemont. 2025/01/25. Ontario, Canada.
I have the real Canadian pacific golden spike from cragellachie British Columbia canada from 1885 it’s made of solid hard nickel brass alloy
A very worthy chase!! Well done...
Love your video. I rode this train in October’23. My Manor car (Abbott) is captured here and I saw my window (compartment F). Great memories! Many thanks!
Where was the railyard in kelowna ?
They started at the CN yard north of the South and North Thompson confluence, crossed the South Thompson and used CP trackage along the South Thompson to get to Campbell Creek Jct.
Very enjoyable video. I have followed this train twice from Banff to Revelstoke. The Rocky Mountaineer doesn't come into Calgary anymore. I think it uses the wye at Banff now. Love that shot at Glacier. They tore down the station a few years ago. It had nearly fallen apart anyway.
waved off that balcony myself ..... did a few total retro and a few restorations on these cars . way cool . looks like they had a few on this trip . fun project . fun fact the main hall in the 3 suite car is only 20 " wide , end to end . but they are royal for sure .
Great video.
Nice catch!
Nice
Super Video aus alten Zeiten. Viele Grüsse aus Edmonton!
Hi! Great scene, video and camera work! New subscriber. Greetings from Italy. Stefano.
Nice p5
Thank you. Loved this.
The mid-DPU it's so crucial !!!.
12,000 feet = 3,6 km that nearly 4 km !!!!.
"Oh Deer" !
Cool to see since cn stopped hauling coal
Very nice!
Another short line that was run into the ground by owners that took the money and ran. A disgrace that this was allowed to have happened. If the infrastructure would have been maintained the business was there as trains of 80+ cars were common 5 days per week. That's equal to about 100 trucks loads per day.
Holy 5 engines and awesome Rumble at 1:04
4:49 looks like a model train so cool
Interesting, but could use major editing.
The interesting part was/is that our Canadian freight haulers are so trimmed down since "the Hunter" instituted "Precision Railroading", that they are no longer keeping a spare set of engines including crews at major division points like Jasper AB; or for that matter Field BC on the CPR. it's money money money! Interestingly both "The Hunter" (may he shovel coal in Hell) and his side kick Keith Creel were/are American "Flatlanders" who lack(ed) the wits for mountain railroading in harsh weather.
And you best leave the editing savvy for your own videos, that is if you ever have any to edit.
Wow, great video! Deers railfanning :))) You have my subs!
Do you know that several scenes of the movie. Dr. Zhivago were shot at the C.P.R. Station in Lake Louise?
Those are definitely mule deer not elk
Good Stuff
The rail excursion along the Panama Canal is a much better ride and more scenic, and very affordable!
Bring back the regular rail service for average citizens and tourists. Not just the very rich ones.
wish sum1 had the last train to Kelowna recorded... Sad day that line died... wish they would have turned it into a tourist railway...

Hi, witch sound-decoder and sound project is this?
ZIMO with Däppen sound
Klasse gemacht
Like my comment if you live in Vancouver because I am
Amazing to get to see proper freight on the RhB!
Note that you got a quick shot of the chimney of one of the oldest stores in BC as passing thru Pavillion ... topograhy is sort of like the Horseshoe Curve down south... but little more arid and in Pine Country. The curvature is pretty nasty thus there are graphic grease flange oilers on that track... when working according to plan the grease is on the flange rather than the ball of the rail..... then the hogger starts singing nasty words at the Oiler Mechanic. Sand is not the answer.
Rocky Mountaineer crew call that a Kodak Moment. When the train slows down for the scenic sights. I have been on one of their trains.
Agreed. This forum is designed to encourage debate and commentary with civility.
Effective April 8, 2020, Canadian National Railway will suspend train service between Williams Lake and Squamish, B.C. The move comes due to the decline in customer demand that makes it no longer feasible for CN to maintain the current service profile, CN senior manager of communications Jonathan Abecassis confirmed in an e-mail Friday.
What cabin were you in? I’d like to know what to book to get that 360 view cabin with all the windows
All filmed from the observation car, depending on the season there is a "selection" of them
Nice catch on the Canadian pacific
Don't like Elk, nasty creatures.
This line could have been rebuilt and also cover most of the KVR route all the way down to Osoyoos and connect with the line in Oroville WA. It maybe could be a profitable north-south international route.
A city with over 120,000 having no rail service.
I subscribed.Joe's train world videos 😀😀🙂
Great video of trains in winter setting. Joe
@ 9:26... nice sound
Brilliant film, thank you so much for sharing. I wish I got to visit Filisur before the station was rebuilt.
Beautiful video! Love the different views of the train!Enjoyed watching!
We love your trains. Many thanks for the video. Regards from the Netherlands.
